MoMu Antwerp, BelgiumThis jacket is part of the “Amazone Costume” ensemble from the MoMu collection, made by german tailor Hermann Hoffmann. It is made of light beige soft linen canvas and it is unlined. The twelve mid-thigh length flared panels are sewn together with overlapping seams that are reinforced with tape on the inside to maintain the curved structure.
The volume at the bottom and the central slit in the back allow the wearer to comfortably sit on the horse while also wearing the jodhpurs and skirt. The lapel panels are reinforced by doubling the fabric, and there are five eyelets and horn buttons in the front. Looking closely under the lapel, one can also notice three extra eyelets that have been stitched shut. There is some ease in the underarm area to facilitate movements while riding, and the roomy sleeves have a curved shape for the same reason.
Two capacious pockets are inserted at hips height between the two front panels, and are only accessible from the inside of the jacket. There is one button of each cuff and two decorative ones on the back panels where the split ends.
