Type 3 Jacket
[work in progress: preparing PDF pattern, rendering]
The Levi’s Type III jacket, later renamed simply as “trucker”, was designed in 1967 by Jack Lucier, probably inspired by the front construction of the Lee 101 jacket that debuted in 1948.
Compared to the two previous Levi’s jacket models, featuring front pleats and a waist chinch in the back to adjust the boxy fit, the Type III has a slim tapered fit created by the V-shape cut of the front and back panels. The two tabs on the back of the waistband allow for further fit adjustment in the back. The jacket features two flap pockets, with pocket bags stitched on the inside of the front panels.
