F-3 Heated Jacket

The electrically powered WW2 USAAF Type F-3 Heated Jacket insert from 1944-1945, represents just one element of a comprehensive flight wardrobe consisting of a total of 15 distinct pieces, and it serve as a liner. They stand as examples of mid-century wearable and functional technology. Internally wired with circuits and equipped with connectors, they can be plugged into a device to regulate heat whyle operating aircrafts. The extended cuffs serves as glove connectors, pairing with heated gloves to ensure the pilot stays comfortably warm even in extreme cold conditions at high altitudes.

The original manufacturer’s label is still intact, proudly declaring ‘Made in USA’ and ‘Property Air Forces US Army,’ complete with a stock number (8300 – 470660) and the producer’s name (Fox Chase Knitting Mills, Inc.).

This item was found at Archivio Storico Vintage, a specialized archive in military clothing and leather goods located in Regello, Italy.
