A weekend at the museum: make a collection come to life
Hackathon/Workshop
23 and 24 November 2024
→MoMu-Library & Dries Van Noten Study Center (2nd Floor)
ModeMuseum Antwerpen, Nationalestraat 28, 2000 Antwerpen – Belgium
MoMu Antwerp houses the largest collection of contemporary Belgian fashion in the world and stands out with its immersive fashion exhibitions. It has a clear mission to cultivate curiosity about fashion and make it more accessible to all. And that aligns exactly with the scope of our hackaton!
Starting point for the hackathon is the museum collection of MoMu, more specifically its study collection. his is a separate collection of approx 2.000 objects – historical, contemporary and regional costume and fashion – accessible in MoMu’s Library and online.
The challenge for the event is simple: build a (digital) prototype in which this collection comes to life. This can be a 3D reconstruction of an historical object, an animation, a game character dressed in a museum costume, an AR-project… anything goes!
The hackathon takes place the full weekend of 23/24th of November in MoMu. You become a part of a multidisciplinary team of pattern makers, digital designers, game developers, digitisation experts, historical fashion experts… The teams of d_archive, the Digital Fashion Archive, Bakermat, AP Hogeschool, Howest and Masjien will be present to coach, support and collaborate with you and your teammates.
