Carles Lopez – Carta marmorizzata corset

“Letting myself be guided by the origin of the flower jacquard corset—whose provenance appears to be Italian—I imagined a contemporary Florentine girl reinterpreting this heritage piece with a modern twist.
The inner structure is built from a breathable technical net, engineered to keep the body fresh and supported even when the pressure around the torso rises. This lightweight interior contrasts with the exterior: a tough twill printed using the traditional Florentine carta marmorizzata marbling technique, where colours float on water before being transferred to the surface. The result is a fluid, organic pattern enriched with delicate gold veining that recalls Renaissance craftsmanship with a contemporary sensibility.
The closure sits at the centre front, where a line of hooks and eyes allows the wearer to adjust and secure the piece with ease, maintaining both comfort and precision.
A bold leather wrap, deep red and sumptuous, encircles the silhouette with sculptural strength. It works as both protection and statement—an armour of femininity, confidence, and modern elegance.
I believe that preserving old patterns from disappearing and reinventing new garments—even if only in the digital realm—creates a richer present of creativity. Blending historical reference with technical innovation, this corset becomes a dialogue between heritage and future, softness and power, tradition and experimentation.”
