Monica Seggos – Herman Hoffmann x Levi’s Strauss

“I chose the Hermann Hoffman MoMu Antwerp Amazone Jacket from 1909 to pair with the Levi Strauss Denim Pantaloon 1878/2011, from Endrime London for my d_archive collab.
The print I designed was created from an image of a vintage rose painting that I photographed. I did several image transfers of the photographs onto Italian plaster that I had layered over linen fabric. After the transfers dried, I photographed them and collaged them in Procreate to make the fabric.
The metallic layer on the was inspired by a pair of upcycled Levi’s jeans by 1990s brand Adesso. One of their techniques was to apply gold foiled snake print to the denim, (see in the accompanying image).

The rose print Levi Strauss Denim Pantaloon 1878/2011 does not have the gold foil snake print applied to them. I wanted to have a more Levi’s tough boot look to them.
3D designer Candy Vergara brought everything to life for me.
I am very pleased how the original rose print photo transfer fabric samples turned out. It is my intention to use the technique to hand paint the rest of the fabric to create one-of-a-kind pieces using the d_archive Hermann Hoffman MoMu Antwerp Amazone Jacket pattern from 1909. I will finish the garments using the hand painted metallic snake print technique, likely with less density than seen in the image. The jacket is intended to be worn with vintage and contemporary Levi Strauss jeans.”
